Person-centred, or Humanistic, Counselling is based on the philosophy that individuals are full of potential for growth. This is based on the belief that under the right circumstances people are all capable of being inspired and knowledgeable. Coming from the personal growth movement this approach encourages individuals to think about their feelings and take responsibility for their thoughts and actions. The emphasis is on self-development and achieving the highest potential by looking at the person as a whole. The client’s creative instincts may be used to explore and resolve personal issues.

Person-centred and humanistic therapy acts as the basic foundation to all the therapy that I provide and often when used in conjunction with other therapeutic approaches it is a way of developing an supportive and non-judgmental approach that can be sustaining and empathetic.
